Catalyst for Girls Award recipients to be honored at luncheon | NONPROFIT REGISTER 

GIRLS, INC. OF METRO DENVER

News: Girls, Inc. of Metro Denver is in final preparations for its annual My Bold Future luncheon, a May 13 fundraiser honoring the 2026 Catalyst for Girls award recipients. 

They are: 

Corporate Catalyst, Crocs, Inc.; Community Catalyst, The Colorado Trust; and Individual Catalyst, Michelle Hawkins, senior vice president/strategic procurement for Charter Communications. 

The luncheon, with an expected crowd of 700, begins at 11 a.m. in the Seawell Ballroom in the Denver Performing Arts Complex. United Airlines is the presenting sponsor and tickets may be purchased by visiting www.girlsincdenver.org/mbf 

In addition to presenting the Catalyst for Girls awards, the luncheon is also the occasion to recognize the Girls, Inc. members who are recipients of Girls, Inc. scholarships totaling $110,000. 

The recipients are: 

  • Lilliana Locke, $10,000 Helen McLoraine Collegiate Scholar 
  • Ganete Alemseged, $10,000 TraciJim College Completion Scholar 
  • Karinne Jones, $5,000 Caryl Miller Collegiate Scholar 
  • Clessie Mugisha, Iris Osmulski and Lana Hassan, $10,000 Helen McLoraine Strong, Smart & Bold Scholars 
  • Leila Bane and Liana Walker, $5,000 Kena Contreras Memorial Scholars 
  • Shiloh Bernal, $5,000 LaRey Peterson Scholar 
  • Jessie Owen, London Treece and Safa Yesir, $5,000 Helen McLoraine Teen Leadership Scholars 
  • Colette Larson, $5,000 Dyan Foss STEM Scholar 
  • Anastacia Gundrum, $10,000 TraciJim STEM Scholar 
  • Franchesca Burrell, $5,000 Ovintiv STEM Scholar 
  • Aniyah Salaz and Liana Walker, Girls, Inc. Headquarters Lucille Miller Wright Scholars 

“We are thrilled to be awarding this year’s students with scholarships that will position them for success,” says Susanne Mombelli, chair of the Girls, Inc. of Metro Denver scholarship committee. 

CEO Kayla Garcia adds, “These scholarships represent far more than financial support. They are an investment in the limitless potential of the girls we serve. At Girls, Inc. of Metro Denver, scholarships are at the heart of our mission to uplift and develop the whole girl.” 

About the organization: Girls, Inc. of Metro Denver focuses on the development of the whole girl, inspiring them to be strong, smart and bold. In partnership with schools, community organizations, and at the Girls, Inc. center on West Colfax, they learn to value themselves, take risks and discover and develop their inherent strengths through mentoring and research-based programming.
