What they are saying: Trump impeachment

On Wednesday, the U.S. House of Representatives approved two articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump on a largely party-line vote.

Here are the reactions of political leaders in Colorado:

“It’s insane that @realDonaldTrump is #Impeached for “Obstruction of Congress” when only one half of America’s bicameral Congress thinks so.” — Rep. Dave Williams

True Story. The ‘articles of impeachment’ have absolutely nothing to do with the original accusations. They are merely a lie crafted by the Dems who feel they have to see this out. And if they dig their own hole, they might as well cover it up with themselves in it at this point.” — Mesa County Republican Party

We have determined — based on hours of sworn testimony, text messages, emails and the president’s own words — that Trump has so abused the power of his office that for him to remain in the White House is a threat to our democracy.” — The Denver Post editorial board

The @denverpost gets it right. 45 should be impeached and removed from office” — Rep. Leslie Herod

“The House votes to Impeach! Are we great yet? Today’s vote is a reflection of how truly divided our country has become #IMPEACHMENTVOTE#ImpeachmentDay20” — Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Stephany Rose Spaulding

It’s all a game to [the Democrats]. They have wasted our taxpayer money on this charade because they know they can’t win in 2020.” — Elbert County Republicans

It’s Done! On to the Senate.” — Indivisible Durango
