Polis orders flags lowered for Lewis, two first responders
Gov. Jared Polis has ordered flags lowered to half-staff on Dec. 13 at all public buildings to honor three Coloradans who recently died.
Rep. Kimmi Lewis, a Republican from Las Animas County, represented the southeastern Colorado-based House District 64 since 2017. Her death occurred on Dec. 6 after a multiyear breast cancer diagnosis.
Ken Jones was a first responder with Summit Fire & EMS. While battling a fire at a Copper Mountain residential building on Dec. 7, Jones was killed. He had been with the agency for 20 years.
Sgt. Joshua Voth had been an employee of the Fremont Correctional Facility since 2016, but died on Dec. 4 after an accident. Voth was a correctional support licensed trade supervisor, meaning that he taught trade skills to offenders.
The flags will remain lowered from sunrise to sunset. The governor’s office noted that services for all three individuals will also be held on Friday.
