IN RESPONSE: Diana DeGette does not stand for you
Diana DeGette does not stand for you. DeGette and her fat cat cronies have been getting wealthy while our communities suffer. She shows up at election time for our votes and, once elected, quickly returns to Washington to vote for bigger and bigger government programs that make her and her friends rich and powerful and keep us and our families down. I, Casper Stockham, stand for you!
It was shocking to watch Diana DeGette disrespect our neighborhoods during the State of the Union speech. DeGette sat as the parents of two young girls, who were viciously murdered by MS-13 illegal immigrant gang members, were recognized from the platform. Seeing these parents’ tears for their dead daughters broke my heart. And DeGette sat as these black and brown parents received a standing ovation from everyone but the Democrats at the Capitol. Diana DeGette stands for keeping violent illegal immigrants in our communities. I, Casper Stockham, stand for the safety and prosperity of our neighborhoods.
Diana DeGette does not care about our veterans. She sat when Trump said, “And we are serving our brave veterans, including giving our veterans choice in their healthcare decisions. Last year, the Congress passed and I signed, the landmark VA Accountability Act.” If Diana DeGette truly cared about our veterans, why would she sit? If she truly cared about our veterans, she would have demanded transparency and accountability regarding the new VA hospital in Aurora. Early estimates for the facility were around $528.5 million with completion in 2014. Current projections are that the hospital will cost at least $1.7 billion, three times as much. And, unbelievably, it is still not open. Just think how many homeless veterans we could have helped as DeGette was looking the other way while cronies and bureaucrats were getting rich.
I, Casper Stockham, stand for our veterans. As your next U.S. representative, I will work to ensure that we have 0 homeless veterans and 0 veterans in need of services who are not getting them. No veteran should have to travel past excellent facilities only to have to wait in line for help or services.
And while we have more hard work to do in creating jobs and opportunity for our black and brown communities, Diana DeGette sat as Trump recognized that African-American unemployment stood at the lowest rate ever recorded, and Hispanic American unemployment also reached the lowest levels in history. She talks about jobs and opportunity, however when we start to finally make progress, she sits.
As Denver’s next representative to Congress, I will launch several SBA micro business purpose centers and place them in the inner cities and rural communities to help equalize the unemployment rate statewide. These centers will equip our youth and workforce for the jobs of tomorrow.
Diana DeGette sits for you. I, Casper Stockham, stand for you! I stand for safe and prosperous neighborhoods. I stand for honoring our veterans. I stand for jobs and opportunity for our children and our communities.
