Taste of La Receta: Attendees will come hungry, leave inspired | NONPROFIT REGISTER

MI CASA RESOURCE CENTER

Denver

News: Mi Casa Resource Center’s annual Taste of La Receta will feature foods from five countries prepared by chefs from 12 Denver-area culinary startups, and organizers advise guests to come hungry and savor “A success story in every bite.”

La Receta is one of Mi Casa’s programs that prepare budding entrepreneurs for success; in La Receta’s case, it’s in the culinary field.

Chef Selene, for example, grew up in Mexico City where her mother gave her, at age 11, the choice of attending fashion school or culinary school. It was an easy choice for Selene, who at that tender age was captivated by the intoxicating aromas emanating from her family’s kitchen. In particular, the pastries.

Selene is a graduate of La Receta and the founder of Denver’s SaborArte Bakery. For Taste of La Receta she will offer servings of her original pistachio and strawberry cake.

According to event organizers, Taste of La Receta “Brings together the most promising food entrepreneurs in Denver. These aren’t just any food businesses. They’re the ones who’ve worked through our entrepreneur programs, refined their recipes, built their business plans and are now ready to share their incredible food with the community that has supported them.”

Taste of La Receta takes place Aug. 1 at Denver City Park Pavilion. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the $75 tickets include the food tastings, one premium drink and one vote in the Best Taste and Best Presentation categories.

Tickets, 50 percent of which have already been sold, may be purchased by visiting www.micasaresourcecenter.org

About the organization: Founded in 1976 by seven West Denver residents to offer job training programs designed to help women break into fields with higher-paying jobs, Mi Casa Resource Center today has expanded its core career and business pathways courses to include support in areas that include financial wellness, digital literacy and English as a Second Language.
