News: The Rocky Mountain Children’s Health Foundation invites the community to support a month-long effort to provide new toys and essentials for babies, children and teens receiving care or services through its various programs.
“Spending a birthday or holiday in the hospital is incredibly difficult, especially for a child,” said Cathy Sandoval, the foundation’s executive director. “A simple toy can bring a moment of joy, comfort and normalcy. It reminds kids that they’re still allowed to just be kids, even in the midst of medical challenges.”
She notes that while toy drives typically align with the holiday season, the need for these items continues year ‘round. “A summer toy drive helps us build up supplies now, meaning we can support children in the hospital today and still be ready for the high demand fall and winter months.”
The most needed items for babies and toddlers are developmental baby toys, infant clothing in sizes newborn to 12 months, diapers, wipes and other baby essentials.
For teens, the needs include STEM kits and science activity kits, board games, card games, art supplies, craft kits, earbuds and portable electronics accessories.
All donated items must be new and in their original packaging. They can be dropped off at the Rocky Mountain Children’s Health Foundation office, located at 5394 Marshall St., Suite 400, Arvada, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., daily throughout July.

About the organization: The Rocky Mountain Children’s Health Foundation, in partnership with hospitals and medical professionals, provides financial, nutritional and emotional support to thousands of pediatric patients and their families every year. “Because when we do, they can focus on what really matters: being there for their child,” Sandoval states.
