News: Registration is open for Cancer League of Colorado’s 29th Race4Research, a 5K run/walk to be held Aug. 19 in Denver’s Washington Park.
In addition to raising money for cancer research conducted in Colorado, the event honors the memory of Michelle Plachy-Rubin, a mother and kindergarten teacher who was diagnosed with brain cancer in 1996. In 1997, Plachy-Rubin walked in the first Race4Research with her 1-year-old son; the cancer took her life the following year.
To date, the race has raised over $1.6 million.

About the organization: The all-volunteer Cancer League of Colorado was formed in 1969 to raise money for Colorado-based scientists and medical professionals conducting cancer research and to fund support services offered to Colorado cancer patients. Some $25 million has been raised to date.
