Daniel Campaña, unaffiliated candidate, qualifies for Colorado House District 22 ballot
Daniel Campaña, an unaffiliated candidate for the state legislature, has officially secured a spot on the November ballot, his campaign announced Wednesday.
Campaña will face incumbent Rep. Ken DeGraaf, R-Colorado Springs, and Colorado Springs Democrat Michael Pierson in the contest to secure the seat representing House District 22.
According to the Colorado Independent Redistricting Commission, 46% of the district’s registered voters are unaffiliated, 34.5% are Republican, and 17.4% are Democrats. The district is located in northern Colorado Springs.
“We are thrilled to be officially on the November ballot,” said Campaña. “This campaign is about more than just one election. It’s about creating a government that truly represents and serves its citizens. We are building a coalition where everyone’s ideas can shape the future of Colorado.”
To qualify for the ballot, unaffiliated candidates for the Colorado House must gather either 1,000 petition signatures or 5% of the number of votes cast in the most recent election for that office. Party-affiliated state House candidates need either 1,000 signatures or 30% of the votes cast for their office in the most recent election.
According to Campaña’s campaign, his top priorities are housing, supporting law enforcement and first responders, mental health, and education. He has been endorsed by Sen. Tony Exum, D-Colorado Springs, Rep. Regina English, D- Colorado Springs, and Colorado Springs City Councilmember Nancy Henjum.
