The Colorado Center on Law & Policy announced on Tuesday that it received a top ranking from the assessment organization Charity Navigator for the third year in a row.

The center explained in a press release that the percentage of its budget dedicated to administration and fundraising has steadily declined.

“As of 2020, we anticipate that less than $0.17 of every dollar in our budget will be spent on administration, fundraising and other overhead. This means that more than 83 cents of every dollar will be spent directly on our advocacy programs this year,” the center wrote.

Colorado has 99 charities with the highest ranking, known as “four-star,” ranging from public radio and religious programs to the Aspen Music Festival. Charity Navigator assesses the efficiency with which organizations use their donations, and how well they govern themselves and sustain their programs.

The Colorado Center on Law & Policy is a research and advocacy organization that addresses racial equity and economic security. Tiffani Lennon, the center’s executive director, thanked current and former staff and board members for making the organization transparent and financially stable.

“We couldn’t have achieved this exceptional rating without strong continuing support from our funders and donors,” she said.
