The Regional Transportation District is reconsidering its decision regarding a sublease for a potential National Medal of Honor museum near its Civic Center Station in Denver.

RTD officials voted down a plan Tuesday that would have allowed the city to sublease a lot at Colfax Avenue and Broadway for museum purposes. Denver is one of two finalists in the selection process for the museum’s location.

“It doesn’t sound like a great deal,” said Director Kate Williams before casting a “no” vote at the meeting Tuesday. “‘It’s a break-even for us’ is the selling point that we’ve been presented with.”  

But the decision will now be reviewed again by RTD officials, reports Denverite, as they plan to consider economic benefits the museum could provide.

“We recognize that the museum locating in Denver poses a unique opportunity, which is why the board will spend the next few days reviewing additional information before taking the matter back up for consideration,” said board Chair Doug Tisdale, according to Denverite.
