Cocktails you can carry? Denver considers ‘common consumption’ areas (VIDEO)

Denver is looking to change how and where people can legally carry an alcoholic drink away from the bar or restaurant where they bought it.

Denver’s Department of Excise and Licenses has been exploring the idea of allowing “common consumption” areas shared by a number of businesses in which people could move about with their drinks in a defined space.

In 2011, the Colorado General Assembly passed a law allowing local jurisdictions to license such designated areas. Fort Collins and Greeley already offer the option with few complaints, according to Denver officials.

The department plans to make a full presentation of the pilot program to a Denver City Council committee in June.
