Denver mayor candidate wants delay on Denveright plan
Denver mayoral candidate Jamie Giellis is asking the city council to delay is plan to vote in April on a proposed comprehensive plan for the city for three to six months rather than do so before the May 7 municipal election.
“Denver voters deserve a more thoughtful approach to setting a vision for Denver’s future and more time to understand this complicated plan, which will guide city policies for the next 20 years,” Giellis said in a statement Thursday.
The plan, called Denveright, is the result of two years of outreach, planning and public comment.
An updated draft of the plan is expected to be released to the Denver Planning board later this month.
Giellis — formerly president of Denver’s River North Art District — is one of about 66 candidates running for city offices in the May 7 election.
