WATCH: Michelle Obama brings book tour to Denver

Michelle Obama made a stop in Denver Thursday to promote her new memoir, appearing before a packed house at the Pepsi Center.

Answering questions from actress Reese Witherspoon on stage, the former first lady talked about her life, from her childhood in Chicago to her years in the White House, and issues such as female empowerment before a crowd that included many mothers and daughters.

She also talked about her husband, including how impressed she was at their first meeting and the strain that his service in the Illinois state legislature placed on their marriage while their daughters were very young.

Obama also had amusing tales to tell, such as on the night of Barack Obama’s presidential victory when daughter Malia noticed the blocked-off streets of Chicago were deserted as the Obama motorcade made its way to the site of his victory speech. She said, “No one’s coming to your party, Dad.”

And she told of a sleepover her daughters had at the White House the night before the Obamas moved out to make way for the Trump family, with Obama recalling how she had to chase her daughters’ friends out of the mansion moments before the new first family arrived.

Obama stopped in the Mile High City on a 10-city book tour for her best-selling book “Becoming,” which was released Nov. 13.

Each of Obama’s appearances is being moderated by a celebrity, including media queen Oprah Winfrey, “Blackish” actress Tracee Ellis Ross, former White House adviser Valerie Jarrett, actress Sarah Jessica Parker, comedian Phoebe Robinson, former NPR host Michelle Norris and poet Elizabeth Alexander.

Ahead of an appearance Thursday night at the Pepsi Center, the former first lady read to children at Children’s Hospital Colorado in Aurora and signed books at the Tattered Cover bookstore.
