Greeley Tribune: We’re glad to see resurgence in student activism

If you believe students should stay in school, regardless of any situation, because they need to learn, then we would welcome you to endorse the recent walkouts and marches.

We know the walkouts were frustrating to some of you. Just a couple weeks ago, more than 500 Weld County students walked out to protest gun violence. Tens of thousands walked out nationwide. It was a disruption, and it took time out of our classroom, and it may have even cost a teacher part of a lesson.

So why are we endorsing it? Well, we want our students to learn. And sometimes, life lessons are just as important, if not more important, than schoolwork.
