Early to bed and early to rise is the key to a happy and healthy life, right?

Not for teenagers, according to new research about the effects of sleep deprivation on teen brain development.

High school and middle school students in School District 51 start school at 7:25 a.m.

 That’s too early, and the negative effects shed light on many of the troubles that plague District 51 students disproportionately to students in other districts. Problems like depression, suicide and substance abuse may be a product of chronic sleep deprivation caused by the district’s early start times. Read more at The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel.
