Nancy Pelosi to join women’s roundtable in Denver on Wednesday
The Colorado chapter of an organization dedicated to supporting women running for elected office will host U.S. House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday in Denver.
The roundtable will feature issues facing women in Colorado, according to Emerge Colorado, which is hosting the event along with the Colorado Democratic Party and the the Democratic National Committee.
Pelosi will join U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette of Denver, Colorado House Speaker Crisanta Duran of Denver, former state Sen. Morgan Carroll, chairwoman of the Colorado Democratic Party, and Jenny Willford, executive director of Emerge Colorado.
Westminster City Councilwoman Maria DeCambra will also join the event, along with Cristina Aguilar, executive director of the Colorado Organization for Latina Opportunity and Reproductive Rights.
Emerge Colorado board member, Lucille Wenegieme, will serve as moderator for the event, which is scheduled to take place at the History Colorado Museum in Denver Wednesday afternoon.
In addition to discussing issues facing women, the panel is also expected to focus on the “A Better Deal” plan, which revolves around “better jobs, better wages, and a better future.”
“Democrats are offering America a better deal,” Pelosi argues on her website, which describes the plan.
“House Democrats are fighting to make sure that all working people know that somebody has their back,” the website states. “By giving our communities the tools they need to thrive, and empowering American families and workers, we will unlock unprecedented economic growth that will lead to better jobs, better wages, and a better future.”
The plan includes three goals:
“It’s time to put government back on the side of all Americans, not just those at the top,” the website states. “It’s time for a better deal.”
