Editorial: Water lawsuit
In the 1960s, ’70s and even part of the ’80s, Fountain Creek was exactly that: a tiny creek that ran through Pueblo on its way to join the Arkansas River on Pueblo’s Lower East Side.
Sometimes in summer, there was so little water in the creek that youngsters walked and rode bicycles over the creek bed.
But that all changed as Colorado Springs grew out of control, its population surging into the hundreds of thousands and without the benefit of proper planning.
That poor planning is evident in urban sprawl and also evident in inadequate infrastructure. As it pertains to Pueblo and Southeastern Colorado, the worst of the inadequate infrastructure is Springs’ terrible stormwater system.
