Talking #LGBTQ from Sterling to Telluride and back again

One Colorado is coming to a town near you, Coloradans.

The state’s largest advocacy organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual transgender and queer residents announced the schedule Thursday for a statewide listening tour in 13 cities from Jan. 26 through March 11. One Colorado is the most visible and influential political organization on gay rights at the state Capitol, and spent about $60,000 supporting like-minded candidates in this year’s legislative races

Leaders and volunteers at each stop will talk about building on its successes in advancing policy initiatives to benefit LGBTQ Coloradans, as well as the challenges ahead. One Colorado also plans to present the findings of a statewide LGBTQ needs assessment that was conducted this year.

“LGBTQ people living in different parts of the state face many unique challenges. Issues affecting a gay man living in Denver can be completely different than the issues affecting a transgender woman living in a rural area,” said Daniel Ramos, One Colorado’s executive director. “The ‘We Are One Colorado’ tour is an opportunity for One Colorado to make sure our organization’s work aligns with the needs of LGBTQ people all across our state.”

Locations will be announced later on the One Colorado website.

The tour schedule released Thursday is:

Jan. 26 – Aurora

Jan. 31 – Colorado Springs

Feb. 1 – Fort Collins

Feb. 7 – Denver

Feb. 10 – Aspen

Feb. 11 – Grand Junction

Feb. 15 – Boulder

Feb. 16 – Frisco

Feb. 22 – Pueblo

Feb. 28 – Sterling

March 1 – Arvada

March 10 – Durango
