Hickenlooper appointments announced

Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper announced appointments to three state boards and commissions Monday, Dec. 12.

The Justice Assistance Grant Board advises the Division of Criminal Justice on issues related to federal block grant monies designated to improve the criminal justice system and cut drug abuse and violent crimes. Hickenlooper appointed Canon City Police Chief Paul Douglas Shultz to fill the seat vacated when Longmont Police Commander David A. Moore resigned. Shulz will serve a term that expires July 31, 2019.

The Colorado Scenic and Historic Byways Commission works with state agencies, the U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, local byways organizations, as well as public and private resources, to help develop byways management plans, coordinate the budgeting process and allocation of federal, state, and private funds for byway improvement. Daniel Cressy of Golden was appointed to serve as a representative of the U.S. Forest Service, and fills a vacancy caused when Christopher F. Sporl of Littleton resigned. Cressy serves a term until Jan. 1, 2019.

The Workers’ Compensation Cost Containment Board promotes cost containment and risk management programs in administering workers’ compensation programs. Hickenlooper reappointed Democrat Edward Dean Davis of Centennial, representing employers with good risk management experience with workers’ compensation insurance. He also reappointed Democrat Sarah Hayes of Lafayette, representing executives with good risk management experience in the insurance industry. Both will serve terms that expire Dec. 13, 2019.
