Los Angeles man arrested for allegedly attempting to pimp Denver women into sex trafficking ring

Denver investigators have assisted in the arrest of a Los Angeles man after he allegedly attempted to lure two metro Denver women into a illegal sex trafficking operation.

Denver District Attorney Beth McCann announced the arrest of Murlin Swanston, 48, who was apprehended in California by state fugitive agents, according to a DA’s office news release on Monday.

Investigators said that since 2021, Swanston has contacted thousands of women online across the country, notably sex workers, to take part in his online sex trafficking ring.

Swanston allegedly attempted to reach out to random women through social media and text messaging, according to his arrest affidavit.

Swanston is currently being held in California and awaits extradition to Colorado, pending charges filed, according to the DA’s office.

“Prosecutors believe there are many more victims in Denver,” officials said.

The DA’s office urged any possible victims to contact Investigator Joe DeAngelo in the district attorney’s human trafficking unit at 720-913-9108.

A date for Swanston’s extradition to Colorado has yet to be scheduled.
