Fire burns over 1,000 acres in northern Colorado
The Wildhorse 5 Fire on the Pawnee National Grassland has been 75% contained after burning 1,204 acres, according to an X post from the Arapaho Roosevelt National Forests & Pawnee National Grassland. Pawnee National Grassland is located in Weld County near the Wyoming state line.
The wildfire started on September 29 and is burning near the Baker Draw Shooting area. The public has been asked to refrain from shooting in the area until operations are complete.
Four Forest Service engines, one hand crew, and two single-engine airtankers responded to the fire. Fire resources remain working in the area to ensure all areas of heat are addressed and that all containment lines continue to hold, the forest service said.
