The Colorado State Patrol launched a COVID-19 call center Friday to help inform the public about information and assistance related to the pandemic.

CSP said the call center is intended to help emergency dispatch and operations centers with the increasing number of phone calls coming in asking about COVID-19 updates and regulations.

Earlier this week, the state changed its COVID-19 response dial, putting over a dozen counties into a newly-created Level Red status. This has left many Coloradans unsure about what restrictions they’re meant to follow.

“(People) are seeking guidance from law enforcement concerning state public health orders,” CSP said. “Our mission is to help triage questions from the public … and to assist the public with finding answers.”

CSP said phone calls have been increasing as the state’s rates of COVID-19 have risen dramatically in recent weeks.

In Colorado, 1 in 49 people are currently infected with COVID-19, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

The call center is open to the public, in addition to public safety dispatch centers, local emergency operations centers and members of business sectors. It is not a 911 center and is not intended to assist with emergencies.
