Third Colorado patient cleared of suspected coronavirus

The one patient awaiting a test result for potential coronavirus in Colorado is clear of the virus, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment announced on Tuesday.

Previously, CDPHE reported that there were two other patients, each with a history of travel to China, who similarly had received negative test results for the virus.

“The department continues to believe the current health risk is low for novel coronavirus in Colorado,” CDPHE said in a statement, adding that it is tracking the number of confirmed cases and will release updates every Wednesday.

The coronavirus, which has spread to China and 16 other countries, has killed 106 people, the BBC reported on Tuesday. It is from a family of viruses with flu-like symptoms, and Colorado officials are unsure of its severity or tranmissibility.

U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet on Monday joined 30 other senators in asking the Trump Administration for an update on its response to the virus. U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner said on Friday that he has contacted the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Department of State for information.
