Fifth free Fresh Air Friday to be held on Nov. 29
On Nov. 29, Colorado Parks and Wildlife will hold Fresh Air Friday, in which admission to all 41 state parks will be free.
“Studies have shown that spending time outside, no matter the activity, is great for your health,” said the department’s director, Dan Prenzlow.
Fresh Air Friday began in 2015. It coincides with Black Friday, the customary post-Thanksgiving shopping day.
Five state parks also have hikes planned. Those include
-
Ridgway State Park: a one-mile hike at 11 a.m. and a two-mile hike at 1 p.m.
-
Chatfield State Park: a two-mile walk at 9 a.m.
-
Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area: Little Rainbow Trail hike all day
-
Mueller State Park: 3.5-mile hike at 9:15 a.m.
-
Barr Lake State Park: three-mile stroll all day
Colorado Parks and Wildlife manages more than 350 wildlife areas covering 900,000 acres. The most popular activities are walking (for 74% of parkgoers) and hiking (52%), with picnicking and camping tying for third – 32% of people participate in each of those activities.
