It has been a good week for American dogs.

Paw placed firmly across a law book as the oath was administered, a black Labrador retriever named Hatty was sworn in as the newest employee of the state’s attorney’s office in Chicago.

Hatty, 2, will work with young children and people with mental health issues who have been victims of assault to ease the difficulties of criminal proceedings. She will be on a 9-to-5 shift and is expected to manage up to 200 cases per year, according to the Associated Press.

Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx oversaw Hatty’s Tuesday swearing-in ceremony. The new employee was partially trained by inmates and is the office’s first emotional support dog.

The news comes the same week another dog made headlines. Conan, a Belgian Malinois, was hailed as a hero after he helped chase down Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al Baghdadi. The terrorist kingpin fled into a dead-end tunnel where he detonated a suicide vest killing himself and three children.

President Trump said that the courageous canine would be dropping by for a visit to the White House next week.
