Denver Democrats set series of forums for US Senate candidates

The Democrats running for a Colorado U.S. Senate seat can make their case before Denver voters at a series of Saturday morning forums in October and November, the Denver County party announced Monday.

The four events will be sponsored by the county party and its constituent House district committees, said Melissa Johnsen, chairwoman of the county Democratic Party.

At last count, 11 Democrats are running in the primary for the chance to challenge Republican U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner in 2020. They’ve all been invited to the forums. At each event, moderators will ask questions formulated by the party, followed by questions from the audience.

The scheduled forums are:

? Oct. 5 – sponsored by House Districts 1 and 2, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 2300 S. Patton Court.

? Oct. 26 – sponsored by House District 6 and 9, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 6500 E. Girard Ave.

? Nov. 2 – sponsored by House Districts 7 and 8, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 2201 Dexter St.

? Nov. 9 – sponsored by House Districts 4 and 5, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Highlands United Methodist Church, 3131 Osceola St.

Former Colo. Gov., John Hickenlooper was among 11 contenders for the Democratic primary runoff who were part of a forum Sept. 7 at the Durango Public Library.
