Colorado’s Cory Gardner to be featured at Trump/GOP fundraiser in New York

Sen. Cory Gardner will be featured at a fundraising event for President Donald Trump’s re-election effort and other Republican causes in October.

Gardner was named as a “special guest” on an invitation to a three-day “Fall Retreat” in New York by the 2019 Trump Victory Committee, according to a photo of the invitation tweeted out by a KDVR reporter.

The committee is a joint fundraising effort by Trump’s campaign, the Republican National Committee and various state GOP committees.

The president voiced his support for Gardner’s own re-election bid after former Gov. John Hickenlooper announced he would be running against him in the senate.

The Colorado Democratic Party reacted to the invitation in a release Wednesday, criticizing Gardner for being available for fundraisers but not publicly announced town hall meetings with constituents.

“Instead of announcing a public town hall with his constituents, Senator Gardner is rallying wealthy donors who want to buy another four years of Donald Trump,” said CDP spokesperson Alyssa Roberts. “If Gardner and Trump are fantastic at anything, it’s putting their party and wealthy donors ahead of what’s right for Colorado — and that record is exactly why Coloradans are so eager to vote them both out in 2020.”
