The American Legion’s Department of Colorado has honored a Grand Junction military, law enforcement and aerospace contractor as one of the best employers of veterans.

Capco LLC designs and builds weapons, accessories, electronics and other equipment. The company was nominated for the award by Bethany Hall, the Mesa County Workforce Center’s regional veterans employment representative.

The Employer of Veterans Award, presented at the American Legion’s recent state convention, recognizes the company’s extra effort to hire veterans and it recognizes companies with a workforce that’s at least 10% veterans. Capco has a hiring goal of 25%, the company said.

“We are passionate about serving and supporting the men and women of our armed forces, and that commitment extends to furthering veterans’ careers once they have transitioned from active duty to the private sector,” Cordell Bennigson, CEO of Capco, said in a statement.

“We are honored to have such a strong presence of these great Americans within our company, and we are appreciate of the American Legion’s recognition of the importance and value of this commitment.”
