Doctors confirm 1st case of vaping-related lung illness in Colorado
The Colorado Department of Health and Environment has sent out an alert to providers after doctors believe they have confirmed the first case of vaping-related lung illness in the state’s history.

Health officials learned of this first case on Aug. 20, but it wasn’t confirmed until Thursday, according to CDPHE spokesperson Jessica Bralish.
A second suspected case of vaping-related lung illness is also being investigated by the department. They said at least one person has been hospitalized.
While health officials haven’t pinpointed an exact source for the illnesses, they said it appears to be linked to vaping. Officials said the cases meet specific criteria laid out by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention which includes specific symptoms like shortness of breath or trouble breathing, chest pain, cough, coughing involving blood, fatigue and possible fever.
Other doctors explained to 9News these could also be symptoms of pneumonia as well as signs of a blood clot in a lung or an infection like tuberculosis.
