Coloradans can now spice up their rides with Pueblo Chile plates
Chile lover? “Pueblo proud”? Perhaps a trip to the county clerk’s office is in order.
“Pueblo’s spiciest specialty license plate” went on sale today, reports The Pueblo Chieftain – with free salsa being given out at the Pueblo County Courthouse while supplies last.
A 7:30 a.m. press conference outside the courthouse kicked off sales Monday, though the plates are available for purchase at all county clerk’s offices, according to a Monday Facebook post by state Rep. Daneya Esgar, a sponsor of 2017 legislation that authorized the special plate.
“Today is the day we’ve been waiting for since HB 1012 was signed in 2017,” Esgar wrote in a Monday Facebook post after speaking at the press conference. “… Liane Buffie McFadyen, thank you for pushing me to run this bill!! It was a great idea!! #pueblopride #pueblochile #pueblooverhatch #ourlicenseplateisbetter.”
A one-time fee of $50 will be charged for the plate. For those who want the plate personalized, an additional $60 fee will be assessed, with an additional $25 charged annually upon renewal, according to the Colorado Department of Revenue’s website.
