State DHS lauds Larimer County for human services gains

Larimer County has made the most improvements in its human services programs among the Colorado’s 10 largest counties, and this week it was lauded by the state Department of Human Services for its distinguished performance.

DHS executive director Reggie Bicha presented Larimer County the C-Stat Distinguished Performance and Most Improved Large County awards this week.

C-Stat is the Colorado program that measures problem-solving, efficiency and response in serving the state’s most vulnerable residents, including those struggling to make it financially. Colorado Politics told you about the program brought to the state by Bicha a year ago.

“When it comes to innovative ways to serve our clients and do business in Colorado, Larimer county is leading the way as a top performer making great strides in helping the Colorado families find a more secure path for their future,” he said in a statement Wednesday.

“Through C-Stat, our performance management tool, we’re able to ensure continuous quality improvement in our counties and continue coming up with better ways to serve Coloradans in a 21st-century global economy.”

Larimer County saw gains in collecting more child-support payments, “reducing the number of children in congregate care and keeping more of Larimer’s aging and adult community safe and independent through Adult Protective Services,” DHS said in a press release.

Twenty counties met at least 75 percent of the C-Stat goals around timeliness, accuracy, safety and well-being. The others were Dolores, Lake, Sedgwick, Ouray, San Miguel, Eagle, Archuleta, Phillips, Pitkin, La Plata, Summit, Park, Kiowa, Yuma, Arapahoe, Douglas, Logan, Washington and Custer counties.
