Rebecca Cranston picks up Blue Rising Colorado support in state Senate race

DENVER – Rebecca Cranston of Fort Collins picked up the endorsement of Blue Rising Colorado Friday in her bid for state Senate in District 15,

The 2-year-old small-donor group backs pro-abortion rights state candidates who support gun violence prevention, as well as progressive positions on education, healthcare and immigration.

“Rebecca is committed to fighting for affordable healthcare, quality public education, addressing economic and racial inequality and responsible stewardship of our public lands,” Blue Rising co-founders Dawn Reinfeld and Annette Moore. “We believe Rebecca will bring a much needed perspective to the Colorado Senate.”

Cranston, the executive director of the Northern Colorado Aids Project. She is in the Democratic primary with former Loveland City Councilman Ralph Trenary, while Rob Woodward is running unopposed on the Republican side. They are seeking the seat being vacated by Sen. Kevin Lundberg, who is term-limited and running for state treasurer.

“Blue Rising believes that this is the year that a qualified candidate can flip SD15 Blue, and Rebecca has the integrity, work ethic, and business acumen to defeat the deep-pocketed opposition with a broad grassroots campaign,” Reinfeld and Moore stated.

Cranston said she was honored to get the endorsement

“Blue Rising understands the importance of investing in promising, passionate, and qualified candidates at an early stage in order to increase visibility and support,” she told Colorado Politics. “My campaign is proving that voters want a candidate who won’t hesitate to demand integrity and values in their elected officials. I am thrilled for the opportunity to lead Colorado forward and bring values back to our process.”

Editor’s note: The headline on the post initially incorrectly attributed this endorsement to Blue Flower Colorado.
