Medal of Honor Society convention in Pueblo
The annual congressional Medal of Honor Society convention is expected to bring more than 40 recipients of the nation’s most cherished military honor to Pueblo next week. The 2017 convention officially runs from Tuesday through Sept. 16, but many of the participants likely will start gathering here a day or two before the five-day event at the Pueblo Convention Center.
“The Congressional Medal of Honor Society is excited about returning to Pueblo, where we held our convention in 2000,” said Thomas Kelley, president of the society. “The hospitality last time was overwhelming, as was the spirit of patriotism which greeted us all through our stay.”
The Congressional Medal of Honor Society is an exclusive nonprofit organization created by an act of Congress in 1958 and that currently consists solely of the 71 living recipients of the Medal of Honor.
