Colorado Politics

It could all come down to three swingin’ counties in Colorado

So, you say you’re a hardcore political junkie, not just some dabbler who tunes into Fox News or MSNBC now and then? Then, you’ll probably devour these insights by two veteran political science profs at Colorado College in Colorado Springs, published in today’s Gazette.

The college’s Tom Cronin and Bob Loevy offer a county-by-county, demographic-by-demographic breakdown and number crunch of political leanings across the Centennial State in an effort to pinpoint the likely predilections of the populace come Election Day. Among the takeaways-not all of them surprising but certainly worth noting:

On Election Night 2016, if you can find them, watch for the election results in the three swing counties – Jefferson, Arapahoe, and Larimer. If they are going for one candidate, he, Donald Trump, or she, Hillary Clinton, will doubtless carry Colorado in the election. If the three counties start splitting for different candidates, it will definitely be one of the closest elections for Colorado’s nine electoral votes in history.

‘Nuff said? If not, read the full overview here.
