Clinton, Pence campaigning in Colorado
Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, the Republican vice presidential candidate, are both campaigning in Colorado on Wednesday.
Clinton is scheduled to tour a small business in Denver on Wednesday afternoon and then attend a rally at a high school in Commerce City. She was in the Aspen area on Tuesday night for a high-dollar fundraiser.
Pence is scheduled to appear at a luncheon fundraiser in the Denver area, a town hall meeting in Denver on Wednesday afternoon and then attend a rally in Colorado Springs later in the evening.
Donald Trump made his first public appearance last Friday at events in Colorado Springs and Denver after Clinton accepted her party’s nomination the night before. He vowed that voters in the battleground state would be seeing a lot of him before the November election.
The Clinton campaign said to expect a discussion at the 3:15 p.m. rally at Adams City High School about her plan to boost the economy for all Americans and what officials call “the largest investment in job creation since World War II.” She’ll also be visiting Knotty Tie Co., a business that makes neckties and employs refugees who have moved to the Denver area.
The Clinton fundraiser the night before was thrown by Karim Souki of the real estate investment company Ajax Holdings at his ranch in Woody Creek. Tickets were $10,000-$50,000 and raised money for the Clinton campaign, the Democratic National Committee and 38 state Democratic parties, including Colorado’s.
The 11:30 a.m. Pence luncheon costs $2,500-$10,000. It’s a fundraiser for the Trump Victory fund, which collects money for the Trump campaign, the Republican National Committee and 11 state Republican parties, not including Colorado’s.
He’s holding a town hall meeting at 2 p.m. at Mile High Station, an event center under the Colfax Viaduct just southwest of downtown Denver. After that, he travels to downtown Colorado Springs for a rally at the Antlers Hotel.
