Garnett outsources, Hill wins lawmakers’ yoga feud
Can you say “Namaste?” The House Education Committee on Wednesday gave its approval to SB 186, which would remove yoga teacher training from the oversight of the Department of Regulatory Agencies. While the bill’s House sponsor, Rep. Alec Garnett, D-Denver, told The Colorado Statesman he is not into yoga, his wife is, and she can also do the “crow” position demonstrated by Sen. Owen Hill, R-Colorado Springs, when the bill was in the Senate Education Committee earlier this month.

Garnett and Hill have been sparring on Twitter ever since the “crow incident.” So after Wednesday’s positive committee vote, pressure was on Garnett to follow up. Despite Hill’s warning not to “outsource” the task, that is exactly what the freshman Denver Democrat did. On Twitter, he teased, “I outsourced the next hardest move, the splits.” Hill’s reaction? A final tweeted jab. “Not fair, you knew I couldn’t do a split to save my life. Just like a politician: having others do their work for them.”
