Centennial City Council candidates secure tens of thousands

The 11 candidates for Centennial City Council raised tens of thousands, according to their latest campaign finance reports.

Mayor

Christine Sweetland

Sweetland received thousands of dollars from dozens of local contributors, some of whom are running for other council seats. 

Expenditures: $41,246.86

Receipts: $47,550.28

Cash on hand: $6,303.14

Donald Sheehan

Donald Sheehan spent over $20,000 of his own dollars, while some political advocates gave upward of $2,000 to his campaign. This included a $250 donation from Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman.

Expenditures: $59,078.87

Receipts: $66,195

Cash on hand: $9,553.73

Walter (Bennett) Rutledge

Rutledge hasn’t received or spent much on his campaign.

Expenditures: $662.73

Contributions received: $523.66

District 1

Robyn Carnes

Carnes received contributions from local business owners and constituents, including a $250 donation from Sheehan.

Expenditures: $29,537.74

Receipts: $37,034.68

Cindy Sandhu

Sandhu received help from family members, local constituents, business leaders and educators.

Expenditures: $9,058.38

Ashish Vaidya

Vaidya’s funders included family members, realtors, educators, business owners and politicians, including a $500 donation from state Rep. Chad Clifford.

Expenditures: $9,621.95

Carrie Penaloza

Penaloza received money from business owners, consultants, fellow council candidates and attorneys. This included a $250 donation from Centennial Mayor Stephanie Piko, whose term is expiring.

District 3

Ryan Dwiggins

Dwiggins’ main source of contributions came from family members, local constituents, sales reps and attorneys. He recently received a $256 donation from Clifford, plus $103 from Sweetland, a mayoral candidate.

Patty McKernan

McKernan’s main sources of contributors included herself and local supporters.

Expenditures: $947.32

Durrell Middleton

Middleton’s sources of contributors came from mortgage brokers, realtors, attorneys and business leaders. This included money from both Colorado state Sen. James Coleman and U.S. Rep. Jason Crow.

Expenditures: $10,324.55

Receipts: $10,911.1

Cash on hand: $1,086.55

Jeffrey Gilliam

Gilliams’ funds mostly came from himself, dental associates, doctors, educators, attorneys and finance professionals. One contribution came from Aurora Councilmember Curtis Gardner.
