Denver mayor endorses RTD candidate Chris Nicholson in District A
Denver Mayor Mike Johnston has endorsed Chris Nicholson, a candidate for the RTD Board of Directors in District A.
Nicholson said it is the first time Denver’s mayor has endorsed an RTD candidate.
“I’m proud to endorse Chris Nicholson for RTD Board District A,” said Johnston. “Building a vibrant Denver means having a robust, safe, and accessible public transit network, and I’m confident Chris will bring the perspective and dedication RTD needs to deliver that reality for Denverites.”
In response, Nicholson said Johnston inspired him to run for the RTD position.
“(Johnston’s) drive to tackle Denver’s challenges head on with ambitious solutions is exactly the mentality RTD needs now,” Nicholson said. “His success showed me what’s possible here. It is truly humbling to know Mike believes in me to deliver for RTD riders.”
District A covers southern Denver, including the Cherry Creek, Washington Park and Virginia Vale neighborhoods, as well as Glendale.
Nicholson faces former RTD operator Bob Dinegar for the District A seat.
Other candidates for the 15-seat board include Chris Gutschenritter, Barbara McManus, Jessica Williams, Scott Liva, Paul Rosenthal, Bernard Celestin, Kathleen Chandler, Patrick O’Keefe, and Brett Paglieri.
