Jimmy Kimmel shines spotlight on Colorado’s Kyle Clark
Jimmy Kimmel spotlighted the 4th Congressional Debate on his nighttime show, but rather than focusing on the candidates, the TV host highlighted Colorado’s Kyle Clark.
Or, more specifically, Clark’s blistering questions and interaction with the candidates.
The six Republicans running in the June primary in the Colorado’s 4th CD had thrown more elbows than punches in the televised debate last Thursday, with most of the jabs aimed at U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, though her rivals also took hits.
During the fast-paced, hour-long debate, the six Republicans running for the seat left vacant by former U.S. Rep. Ken Buck traded blows over immigration policy, electability and each other’s ability to bring legislation across the finish line. Sponsored by 9News and Colorado Politics, the debate aired live on the Denver TV station and streamed online, where it’s archived for later viewing. The station’s Clark and Marshall Zelinger moderated, with additional questions from Colorado Politics Editor Luige Del Puerto.
Even more memorable than the “lively cast of characters” — meaning the candidates — was Clark, said Kimmel, who played segments of the debate on his show on Tuesday night.
Clark brought former Minority Leader Mike Lynch’s drunk-driving incident and arrest, as well as Boebert’s Beetlejuice episode. Also on the debate stage that night were former state Sen. Jerry Sonnenberg, R-Sterling; Rep. Richard Holtorf, R-Akron; former talk radio host and filmmaker Deborah Flora; and, business consultant and mortgage broker Peter Yu.
“That’s how you run a debate right there, like a drill sergeant. Give that man a raise,” Kimmel said.
Next with Kyle Clark is Denver’s most-watched newscast and has been for over five years, according to 9News.
