US House of Representatives | 2024 VOTER GUIDE

3rd CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT

The Republican-leaning 3rd CD covers most of Colorado’s Western Slope and parts of Southern Colorado, including Pueblo County and the San Luis Valley. Its major cites are Grand Junction, Pueblo, Durango and Aspen.

Republican U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert has represented the seat for two terms but this year moved across the state to the 4th Congressional District, where she’s running for a third term. Democrat Adam Frisch, who came within fewer than 600 votes of beating Boebert in 2022, is unopposed for his party’s nomination.

Why should the voters elect you to office?

I am a battle-test conservative, combat veteran, Hispanic family man, and former Democrat accustomed to taking on tough challenges. I aim to restore appreciation for American exceptionalism and am working to promote unity among Republicans and conservatives. I support Donald Trump and, like Trump, support Speaker Johnson. I currently represent CD 3 on the State Board of Education, where I promote education choice and oppose the far-left, woke agenda that seeks to indoctrinate our kids.

What is your top priority if elected and how will it be funded?

My top priority is to close and secure the border. Why? Because this is something that can be accomplished quickly and with minimal cost: build more wall, hire more border agents and immigration judges, reinstate Trump’s “remain in Mexico” policy, deport people who cross illegally, and shut down the cartels who have flooded our nation with fentanyl. This can be paid for by reclaiming unused COVID funds and repealing Biden’s expensive “green new deal” fantasies.

Why should the voters elect you to office?

I am the only Pro-Trump, MAGA candidate with a proven conservative record. I’m a former state representative, and a 32 year military veteran with broad experience in national security — and the problems we face in America today are ALL national security. We must re-secure our borders, rebuild our energy dominance, restore American manufacturing, and secure America’s agriculture and food supply.

What is your top priority if elected and how will it be funded?

Secure the border — by electing a conservative Speaker of the House who will not sandbag President Trump’s immediate effort to do so. We will fund the constitutional functions of government the way they should always be funded: The budget for each department must be voted on separately. No more continuing resolutions or omnibus spending bills, and, we must audit the federal reserve.

Why should the voters elect you to office?

I believe I’m the right guy for the job, because I’m not a politician and don’t want to be one. I believe it is “politicians” that have led us down the path to the mess we’re in to begin with. I’m a retired business guy, and understand that the salvation of our country lies in getting back to following our foundational documents. If we keep doing the same things, we’ll keep getting the same results!

What is your top priority if elected and how will it be funded?

My top priority is to get back to following our Constitution, which did not allow for spending a dime on any special interest. What made America the most powerful, successful and philanthropic Nation that has ever existed was an incredibly strong work ethic, and self reliance, not reliance on government redistribution. Not spending money we were never intended to spend will fund America’s resurgence! Not easy, but saving America for our posterity is worth it!

Why should the voters elect you to office?

Because I don’t need the job. I have had a political/financial radio show in the Roaring Fork valley for 15 years, over which time I have developed more than 30 platform planks, all of which are designed to improve the lives of people living on the Western Slope of CO. I have signed a pledge not to serve more than three terms (6 years). I want to serve my constituents and enact legislation that benefits Western Colorado.

What is your top priority if elected and how will it be funded?

My top three priorities are securing the southern border, taming inflation while boosting the economy, and incentivizing private industry to harvest at least ⅓ of the 900 million dead beetle-kill trees that are rotting away over 5.1 million acres of Colorado forests.

I think voters should elect me because our current leaders are not being good stewards of our money and I will advocate for real change in this regard.

What is your top priority if elected and how will it be funded?

My top issue is to stop much of the government funding, not find more ways to spend.

Why should the voters elect you to office?

No one will work harder than me — or more effectively — to make life better for western and southern Colorado. Rural Colorado needs serious leadership; without it we’ll be left behind. As the candidate who grew up in the district, who works here, and who is raising his children here, I know the challenges and opportunities facing our communities. I will be laser focused on the border, improving the economy, and protecting water and agriculture.

What is your top priority if elected and how will it be funded?

My top priority is securing the southern border of the United States. We must stop the flow of illegal immigration, drugs, and crime coming into our communities. Our federal government must enforce existing laws, and give Border Patrol and law enforcement the resources necessary to enforce those laws. Adequate funding already exists to accomplish these critical priorities, and in fact enforcement of the law should result in an overall decrease in required funding.

4TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT

Anchored by Douglas County and portions of Larimer and Weld counties along the Front Range, the solidly Republican 4th CD covers Colorado Eastern Plains, including all or portions of 18 additional counties.

The district was represented for five terms by Republican U.S. Rep. Ken Buck, who resigned his seat in March. Concurrent with the primary, voters will elect a replacement to serve the remainder of Buck’s term in a special vacancy election. Six Republicans — including Boebert — and three Democrats are running in their parties’ primaries.

Why should voters elect you to office?

I am a daughter of Colorado’s 4th Congressional District, having grown up in Highlands Ranch and Sterling. I’m running to serve the community that raised me. I’ll work to create more opportunities for the people across CD4 to support their families and build their lives in the towns they love, and to give our families and the next generation the best shot at earning a good life and doing better than their parents did.

What is your top priority if elected, and how will it be funded?

My priority is making government work for the people. Through my roles at AFL-CIO and the National Science Foundation, I helped pass an anticipated $13 billion to make Colorado a world leader in renewable energy transmission through the landmark bipartisan Inflation Reduction Act. I’ll work to bring economic opportunity and investment to CD4 so people can gain and retain good jobs, and I’ll fight to protect and expand access to healthcare, especially in rural areas.

Why should the voters elect you to office?

Voters should elect me because I’m a working-class dad who understands the rural/urban divide. With years of political activism and experience lobbying in the state capital and Washington DC, I’ve influenced meaningful legislation. Having overcome adversity, I am committed to listening to all voices and crafting common-sense solutions. I care deeply about our future and will be an empathetic congressman dedicated to representing everyone.

What is your top priority if elected and how will it be funded?

My top priority is making the American dream more attainable. I will slash taxes for working families by implementing a billionaire tax, cutting wasteful government spending, and reducing our defense budget. I’ll expand subsidies for first-time homebuyers and offer federal property tax assistance for seniors. Additionally, I’ll lower healthcare costs by reducing administrative expenses and reduce grocery prices by regulating price gouging and cracking down on corporate influence. This will be funded through the billionaire tax and streamlined spending.

I’m a retired Marine Corps Officer, Purple Heart recipient, and father of four raising my family in Douglas County. Over the past several years I have held events, shown up, and spent time in every one of the 21 counties that make up the 4th Congressional. Our nominee must work to bring people together, and I believe I’m the best candidate to represent all of the diverse interests in District 4.

What is your top priority if elected and how will it be funded?

Voters across the district tell me that they are extremely concerned about the threat posed to our democracy by extremists like Lauren Boebert. We also see extremism from the Supreme Court stripping rights and freedoms away from women, a Congress that has proven to be the least productive in American history, and all of these concerns stem from a broken system. My priority is to bring integrity and stability back to our democracy.

I am the Trump-endorsed, America First candidate in the race and Coloradans have seen me delivering results for them in Congress. We need proven conservative fighters leading now more than ever and I have shown that I vote the exact same way I campaign. Coloradans know they’re getting a 100% conservative voting record when they cast their vote for me and I will bring that track record to the 4th District.

What is your top priority if returned to office and how will it be funded?

My recently introduced legislation, the Build The Wall & Deport Them All Act, brings back President Trump’s border policies to actually end the crisis at our Southern Border. I fight for issues important to Coloradans every day like protecting our natural resources, energy production, and supporting our ranchers and farmers, but border security should be a major priority instead of funding foreign wars.

Why should the voters elect you to office?

My mission is to selflessly solve real problems for real people. My training, knowledge, and experience of Colorado and geopolitics exceeds my opponents and allows me to find unique solutions and craft good, bipartisan legislation. I am an Afghanistan combat veteran, retired 29-year US Army Colonel, 3rd generation rancher, and 5th year Representative in the State Assembly. Nearly 80% of my proposed legislation became law despite being outnumbered 2 to 1 by Democrats.

What is your top priority if elected and how will it be funded?

My first proposed legislation will link states following the US Constitution and federal law to federal funding. State government budgets depend heavily on block grants from the US Treasury. For example, if Colorado continues to prohibit local law enforcement from working with ICE and other federal agencies thus breaking federal law, federal funds will be cut. This either reduces the federal deficit or helps solve problems, such as skyrocketing crime and illegal immigration.

What is your top priority if elected and how will it be funded?

I will ensure that we return a responsible conduit between Colorado and DC through effective offices throughout the district. I will also work to stop the division, rebuild our party, and get our country back on track.

What is your top priority if elected and how will it be funded?

My top priority is to end the national security and humanitarian crisis occurring at our border. I will work to finish the wall, defund sanctuary policies, reform asylum guidelines, end “Catch and Release”, restore “Stay in Mexico,” and ensure border agents are able to patrol not just process. The cost would be largely offset by the elimination of sanctuary city funding and using the existing materials for the wall that the government is paying to store.

Why should the voters elect you to office?

I am the candidate that was born and raised in the district. I still live in the house that my father and I were raised in and I raised my children there as well. Our family has been farming in the district for over a hundred years. With that background and the experience and leadership skills I have developed in the legislature, I have what it takes to advocate for the people of the 4th CD. As President Pro Tem of the Colorado Senate when Republicans could stop a liberal agenda, I had built relationships and coalitions so problems could get solved whether I was serving in the minority or the majority. I will take that experience and leadership skills to do the same thing in DC.

What is your top priority if elected and how will it be funded?

My top priority will be the economy and inflation. Government needs to get out of the way of businesses so that they can grow and be successful. Federal Reserve Interest rates and government actions regarding energy costs are driving the inflation for every citizen in the county. Those expenses also drive higher transportation costs which in turn makes the everyday products we buy more expensive. Government has to get out of the way so energy companies can again make America energy independent and that will help curb the higher cost of inflation.

As your next representative I will always strive to make you, the constituents, the priority so that you have personal representation and have help when needed.

What is your top priority if elected and how will it be funded?

My top priority is to assure that our country has an affordable cost of living. This will focus on identifying areas to cut unnecessary and duplicate government programs to reduce spending and cut inflation, reduce regulations on all energy sources to create affordable and reliable energy, and work on removing any restrictions on land use so that land can be developed to increase housing supply.

I aim to make the American dream accessible again. Growing up in Colorado, I had opportunities now out of reach for many. With a STEM background, I can tackle climate change, AI, and digital privacy. As a third-generation educator, I know investing in education and research is essential for a thriving society.

What is your top priority if elected and how will it be funded?

Reproductive rights are my top priority.

By allowing people to practice their own family values, and giving people the freedom to determine what is best for them, we will also increase workforce participation, educational and career advancement opportunities, not just for women, but for the children they bring into this world on their own terms. It is not only a matter of individual rights but a significant factor in fostering a healthy, stable, and prosperous economy.

In that time I have led teams across the defense, technology, and nonprofit sectors, which has shaped my views and helped me to identify common sense policies that put people over politics.

What is your top priority if elected and how will it be funded?

Healthcare. I want to leverage proven solutions that I’ve used while working for nonprofits. An individual’s financial status should never impact their access to high quality healthcare. I would work to increase access while decreasing the cost burden for everyone. We can fund this by expanding on the ACA, leveraging both public and private payers, and pursuing solutions to reduce the costs for all payers, such as looking at social determinants of health.

President Trump, the NRA, and the House Freedom Caucus have endorsed our campaign because they know our community needs a conservative fighter in Congress who will work alongside them to get this country back on track so we can secure our borders, protect the Second Amendment, lower taxes and spending, support a strong military, advance pro-life policy, and have less government — all without selling out to the corrupt establishment insiders like my lobbyist opponent.

We must secure the border, deport illegal aliens, and stop funding the radical Democrats’ woke agenda and cash for illegals. Corrupt lobbyist insiders like my opponent abuse our tax dollars for wasteful liberal priorities while having a complete disregard for the dangerous crisis our country now faces. With Trump’s trust and endorsement in this race, I will be unrelenting in taking power away from DC and giving it back to the citizens of OUR country.

Why should the voters elect you to office?

Born and raised in southern Colorado, I have deep roots in our community and have worked to keep our local economy strong and our military installations vibrant. I will always represent the interests of El Paso county in Congress. I’ve been a strong conservative leader fighting for our state and I will go to Washington to secure the border, fix the broken economy, defend our Constitutional rights and fight for freedom for Colorado families.

What is your top priority if elected and how will it be funded?

Securing the southern border by hiring more border patrol agents, law enforcement, building Trump’s wall, adding additional sensors, drones and other technology. I would cut federal non-defense discretionary spending by 3% which would free up $24 billion to be used to do what the American people demand — secure the border.

8TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT

Colorado’s newest district, the closely divided 8th CD, includes portions of Adams, Weld and Larimer counties north of the Denver metro area, from Thornton and Northglenn to Greeley. It’s considered the state’s only “toss-up” House seat and contains the largest concentration of Hispanic and Latino voters.

Democratic U.S. Rep. Yadira Caraveo, who narrowly won the seat in the last election, is running unopposed for her party’s nomination, while two Republicans are facing off in a primary in the district.

Democrats: 112,331; Republicans: 100,363; Unaffiliated: 217,697; Total active voters: 440,349

Why should the voters elect you to office?

Voters who want to defeat far-left Yadira Caraveo and bring conservative change to Washington can look to my record of running toward challenge. My service provides a clear contrast with Caraveo’s “defund the police” policies. I’m a U.S. Army combat veteran, retired police officer, conservative state representative doing battle in a Democrat-dominated legislature, local farmer, and Hispanic family man. I support Donald Trump and have been endorsed by local and national leaders, including Speaker Johnson.

What is your top priority if elected and how will it be funded?

My top priority is restoring the rule of law in our streets and at our Southern border. America’s security is in crisis, and the open border disaster is costing tax dollars that should go to Americans. As a combat veteran and former cop, I stand for: Securing the border, building more of Trump’s wall, reinstituting “remain in Mexico,” ending sanctuary policies, getting tough on career criminals, funding the police, and supporting our first responders.

Why should the voters elect you to office?

I’m the most experienced candidate, legally immigrating in 1978 and working in the medical field for over 50 years, including owning a medical practice. I served in the Colorado house for six years and have visited the southern border personally, seeing the threat that illegal immigration is to our future. Traveling to the former Soviet Union, China, and Cuba has strengthened my resolve for smaller government, lower taxes, and protecting innocent life, including the unborn.

What is your top priority if elected and how will it be funded?

My top priority is balancing the budget. This does not require any funding and will in fact save money for the taxpayers. The fat, pork, and earmarks in the budget are destroying the future of our nation. Congress needs the discipline and courage to implement cuts and stop the waste. To ensure a better future for our children and grandchildren I will never vote for a tax increase or budget that grows the government.

Editor’s note: Candidates are listed in the order they appear on ballots. Active voter registration numbers are current as of the Colorado Secretary of State’s update on June 3, 2024.
