Goodwill prepares for launch of unique high school for adults | NONPROFIT REGISTER

GOODWILL COLORADO

Denver

News: Goodwill Colorado is preparing to launch The Excel Center, the state’s first tuition-free, public, in-person high school for adults. It will be located in Aurora, in a shopping center at Iliff Avenue and Chambers Road that is owned by Goodwill. A mid-2024 opening is projected.

“Did you know that more than 300,000 Colorado adults are without a high school diploma?” asks Karla Grazier, Goodwill Colorado’s president and chief executive officer. “Many of our future students had to drop out of high school for any one of a myriad of reasons – things like a family member’s illness, a change in circumstances or the need to bring in an income.”

The Excel Center, Grazier adds, “Will drastically change lives by providing students an opportunity to finish a goal many only dreamt of: receiving their high school diploma.”

The Aurora Excel Center will be part of a network of centers located in eight other states and the District of Columbia where graduates have achieved a 39 percent increase in earnings within five years and are 72 percent more likely to be employed than those without a high school diploma.

To further enhance enrollment, Excel Center students will have access to free, on-site, licensed childcare, transportation support, career coaching, flexible class schedules and the ability to transfer enrollment to an Excel Center in another state.
