3 shot in Hinkley High School parking lot

Three people were shot Friday afternoon at Hinkley High School in Aurora, the police department has confirmed.

Police received word of the shooting around noon, Police Chief Vanessa Wilson said in a news conference Friday. Two victims were transported to a local hospital, and a third person took themselves to get care at the hospital, the department said in tweets.

The three victims are all under 18, Wilson said. Two are students at Hinkley.

Police hadn’t made any arrests as of about 3 p.m., and Wilson didn’t know if Friday’s shootings are connected to Monday’s attack at Nome Park near Central High School that wounded six students.

But police believe a white pickup truck is connected to the shootings,  according to Wilson. She added they believe the attacks are connected to fights.

Limited details surrounding the shooting have been released, but the school at 1250 S. Chambers Road was put on lockdown. The department tweeted the district would start a phased release at 2 p.m. All after-school activities have been canceled for the day.

Earlier this week, six Aurora Central students were shot at Nome Park. Police are still looking for the suspects behind that shooting.
