Boulder County Housing Helpline provides over $1 million in COVID-19 emergency assistance

More than 400 households in Boulder County have received over $1 million in assistance from the county’s Housing Helpline since April.

Those working for the help line have been connecting with residents to help them with rental assistance, landlord support, free mediation and legal services and financial coaching, according to a news release.

“Access to a safe affordable home is always important, but it is essential while our community is working hard to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” said Angela Lanci-Macris, the director, case management and community outreach division for the county’s housing and human services department.

“The ongoing public health emergency and the financial hardship faced by many individuals and families in Boulder County has made it even more difficult for them to afford the cost of their housing.”

The county set up the help line in April to assist emergency rental assistance, prevent evictions and support the safety and well-being of community members.

It is a bilingual service that will allow those whose primary language is not English to still receive assistance.

“The Housing Helpline is a great example of what we can achieve when we direct our resources toward the root causes of crisis and instability and focus our attention on creating conditions in which everyone can be health, safe, and thriving,” said Albino Bustillos, a bilingual case manager for the help line.

Anyone still needing assistance is encouraged to contact the help line at 303-441-1206 to see what options there are.

“We encourage anyone who needs support with housing costs to reach out to the Helpline today,” said Lanci-Macris.
