On Tuesday, the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments in a case that will decide whether the Trump Administration can end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program on charges that it is illegal and unconstitutional.

DACA is an Obama-era initiative to shield undocumented immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children from deportation. Approximately 700,000 individuals have taken part, including more than 17,000 in Colorado as of March 2017.

Here is how Colorado’s policymakers and advocacy groups reacted:

“President Trump’s decision to abruptly end the DACA program put the fate of hundreds of thousands of young people and families in Colorado and across the country on the line. Since the first day of this administration, our nation’s Dreamers, and all immigrant communities, have been under assault from President Trump’s anti-immigrant agenda. The president’s actions have undermined our nation’s values and forced millions of families to live in fear and uncertainty. The Supreme Court must uphold the rulings of lower courts across the country that found the president violated U.S. law when he ended DACA.
