The campaign to pass Colorado’s Proposition CC, a ballot measure that would let the state spend revenue on schools and transportation that otherwise would be refunded under the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights, dropped its first TV ad Wednesday to pass the tax rebate question on the Nov. 5 ballot.

A spokeswoman said the CC Yes! Campaign is spending six figures to promote the ad statewide.

“It is important to give voters a straightforward look at the common-sense measure to improve our schools and transportation systems,” said Marie Logsden, a campaign spokeswoman. “Especially given opposition from out-of-state dark money interests who don’t let truth stand in the way of their messaging to Colorado voters.”

The ad argues that Proposition CC would help retain teachers for K-12 schools, boost higher education and address the state’s lagging transportation system, all without raising taxes.

The last point is disputed, as opponents contend that allowing the state to keep the rebates granted under TABOR amounts to paying more in taxes.
