Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan will come to the University of Colorado Boulder to deliver the annual John Paul Stevens Lecture.

Kagan will be visiting campus Oct. 22-23 and the lecture will be held Oct. 22 at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets will be offered to students and teachers, and a small number will be available to the general public. The event will also be livestreamed. (More information here.)

The Stevens Lecture was named after Associate Justice John Paul Stevens, who delivered the first speech in 2011. The university has hosted Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sandra Day O’Connor and Antonin Scalia in past years.

It is sponsored by the law school’s Byron R. White Center for the Study of American Constitutional Law. White, a Colorado native who earned his bachelor’s degree at CU Boulder, was a Supreme Court justice from 1962 to 1993.

“It is an honor to host Justice Elena Kagan for this year’s John Paul Stevens Lecture,” said Suzette Malveaux, professor of law and director of the White Center. “The lecture is a wonderful time for Colorado Law students, the legal community and the general public to hear from one of our country’s foremost legal thinkers. The lecture also provides a unique opportunity for us to learn about the highest court in the land and how its work impacts so many facets of our lives.”
