Colorado mountain town west of Boulder seeks to recall mayor, trustees
Nederland is joining the Colorado trend of trying to recall public officials.
The mountain town residents are circulating three recall petitions against their mayor and two trustees.
Four other Colorado politicians face recall efforts: Gov. Jared Polis and state Sens. Leroy Garcia, Pete Lee and Brittany Pettersen.
The recall attempt against Nederland Mayor Kristopher Larsen cites failure to comply with the town’s plans and ordinances, fiscal irresponsibility with taxpayer funds and a lack of accountability.
The petitions against Trustees Dallas Masters and Julie Gustafson cite similar issues.
All three petitions were approved Aug. 6 and are due 60 days after that, with 58 signatures required for Larsen and 47 for each trustee.
