Connect for Health Colorado names 2 new board members

Colorado’s state marketplace for individual health coverage, created in 2011, has announced two new members of its board of directors and the departure of its last two original board members.

Connect for Health Colorado said in a news release that it is bringing on two new directors for four-year terms: Mike Stahl, chief executive for Hilltop Community Resources of Grand Junction, and Dick Thompson, executive director of Quality Health Network.

It also said that three people are leaving the board: Steve ErkenBrack, president and chief executive officer of Rocky Mountain Health Plans; Jay Norris, co-founder of Colorado Health Insurance Insider; and Nathan Wilkes, founder of Headstorms Inc., an IT consulting firm.

ErkenBrack and Wilkes were the final remaining original members of the agency’s board.

The board has nine voting members and three ex-officio members. There remains one vacancy on the board to be filled.

Board members are appointed by Republican and Democratic leaders in the legislature and by the governor.

“We welcome the depth of health care experience these appointments add to our board of directors and the problem-solving skills they bring to our leadership team,” said board Chair Adela Flores-Brennan. “Their backgrounds will provide fresh insight into how we further our mission to improve access, affordability, and choice for Coloradans purchasing health insurance.”
