Michael Moore Reveals Which 2020 Candidate He Thinks Could Take On Trump- Late Night with Seth Meyers

President Donald Trump will win a second term if Democrats choose a “professional politician” to run against him in 2020, filmmaker and liberal rabble rouser Michael Moore says – and he includes in that category a certain former Colorado governor.

“If we put up the wrong horse in this race, we are doomed again,” he said.

What Democrats need, Moore told Seth Meyers on NBC’s “Late Night” Thursday, is “a beloved candidate who’s a street fighter” to inspire the Democratic base of “women, people of color, and young adults between 18-35. That’s 70% of who’s going to vote next year.”

The “Fahrenheit 9/11” and “Bowling for Columbine” director said the candidate needs to give Dem voters “that feeling” they got from voting for President Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012 — a feeling of “you couldn’t wait to get to the polls.”

He added: “Who are you going to say that about of the 25 that are running, right now? When you wake up a year from November, ‘I can’t wait to get to the polls so I can vote for… John Hickenlooper!’ Or Joe Biden, Joe Biden! I love Joe Biden… but we gotta win!”

Of the current candidates, Meyers asked, which are street fighters?

“Two,” Moore answered, identifying one, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Moore wasn’t alone in dropping bad news on the lanky former Denver mayor. The New York Times on Friday delivered a piece headlined “The extraordinary humbling of John Hickenlooper,” ticking off various woes faced by his campaign.

But while Moore and the Times were dissing Hickenlooper, the Coloradan was getting some good news in the form of a Fox News poll that showed with with 2% support among likely Democratic voters — better than the 0% or 1% support Hickenlooper has scored in nearly all previous surveys. (His Colorado rival, Sen. Michael Bennet, rounded out to 0% in the Fox News survey.)

In a different part of his “Late Night” appearance (WATCH BELOW), Moore also talked about taking a page from Republican strategist Karl Rove’s game plan for former President George W. Bush and running hot-button ballot measures in battleground states to draw liberals to the polls.
