Colorado Petroleum Council named new associate director

Carrie Hackenberger has been promoted to  associate director of the Colorado Petroleum Council, the state division of the American Petroleum Institute said Thursday.

Both are advocacy organizations for the oil and gas industry. Hackenberger has worked for the Denver-based Colorado council since 2016, when she was hired as its operations manager.

Her role grew to include policy and regulatory analysis, social media and sponsorship management, member engagement and event coordination, the council said.

Lynn Granger, the council’s executive director, called Hackenberger a “rock star” for the industry during the last legislative session, “stepping up to lead in ways that went above and beyond her job description and years of experience.”

Granger added, “We couldn’t be more thrilled for her to take on this new role as she is truly an emerging leader within the natural gas and oil industry.”

Hackenberger will work with Granger on the council’s legislative and policy efforts.

She has a bachelor’s degree on business administration from Colorado State University and a master’s degree from the University of Colorado Denver’s Global Energy Management Program.

She is pursuing an MBA from CU Denver, which she expects to complete next year.
